ARTIST BACKGROUND:    Jared McKenzie is a Colorado native who currently resides in Denver.  He attended the University of Puget Sound where he majored in Business Administration with a focus on Finance. While attending school, he worked as an artist for a graphic art firm in Seattle.  As a senior, he received a University Leadership Award and was recognized as Artist of the Year.

In 1997, while traveling through Europe, McKenzie combined his talents of graphic design with the influence of 20th century European art.  The result was a unique balance of surreal composition, using minimal lines to focus on negative space.

Throughout the past three years, McKenzie has been carried by various galleries in Colorado, California, and Georgia. At the age of 26, his single-artist shows have included Macky Auditorium in Boulder, Golem Gallery, LLC, and the Fourth Story of the Tattered Cover. McKenzie has been a featured artist at Studio 42 in Los Gatos, California, William Havu Gallery, Goog Gallery, the Melyu Gallery in Denver, the Allen Ashton Gallery in Atlanta, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. 

Recently, McKenzie has expanded his talents by turning ink into fabric, designing dresses for charity auctions. In addition, he works as a creative coordinator for local fashion shows, paints live on stage with local bands, and has recently released a line of custom abstracts for lofts in Denver’s “LoDo” area.

Featured in 5280 Magazine, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, the Daily Camera, picked as one of Denver's hottest singles, and periodically subject for social writers and news stations around Colorado, Jared McKenzie's popularity is on the rise.
